Antminer S19 95T Evaluation
It has been nearly two years since the Bitmain Antminer S19 series of bitcoin miners went on sale on March 23, 2020. Within two minutes of going online, the miners were sold out, bringing Bitmain back to the altar with an excellent price/performance ratio. Its rated hash rate: 95TH/s; energy efficiency ratio: 34.5J/TH±5%; wall power consumption: 3250W±5%.
After the miners have been running stably for a while, the actual operation of the Antminer S19 95T was measured on-site, and I would like to share with you briefly here.
Antminer S19 95T appearance
This Antminer S19 95T is packaged in an industrial reinforced cardboard box, with a high-density pearl foam cover inside and an anti-static dust bag on the innermost layer. The overall packaging is tight and safe.
Antminer S19 95T adopts aluminum alloy profile electromechanical integrated design, parallel four-fan structure, bare metal size is 400*195.5*290mm, and the net weight of the whole miner is about 14.4 kg.
Close-up of the front, back, left, and right, the shape is square, concise, and regular, saving the venue space to the greatest extent.
Antminer S19 95T internal details
First, remove the air outlet fan. The fan has a reinforced dust grid to prevent foreign objects from being inhaled.
After removing the fan, the removable hash board design can be seen. Unscrew the two screws at the top and the power supply connection, unplug the control board cable, and the hash board can be easily pulled out. There are multiple hash board tracks at the bottom of the chassis, leaving more space and possibilities for future renovations.
The extra components at the top of the power box were initially thought to be for aesthetics and were used to find the height of the power supply and the chassis. However, after opening it, I found that it was initially to leave a safe distance between the power supply and the chassis shell, so considerate!
Close-up of the top details, the wiring between the power supply, the hash board, and the control board is neat. In addition to the power cable and data cable, there is also a data cable connecting the control board and the power supply, which is responsible for regulating the voltage of the power supply during the miner's operation.
To facilitate the inspection of the control board, a movable baffle with a spring button is added above the air outlet fan, and the baffle can be easily removed by unscrewing three screws to view the internal situation.
Next, take a look at the close-up of the control board. In the middle is the main control board chip. The logo is visible. The middle connection with the front case is the Ethernet interface, and the SD card slot is next to it.
Next, we're going to pull out a hash board.
Close-up of the front and back of the hash board, two heat sinks on the front, the front is light, the back is heavy, the heat sink is pasted with Antminer thermosetting adhesive, and then reinforced with spring screws.
Close-up of the power interface of the hash board, next to the interface is the power control chip.
There are 77 independent heat sinks on the back of the hash board, which can effectively improve the heat dissipation capacity. The welding process fixes it, and the contact surface is firm and tight, which can effectively prevent violent transportation and loosening and falling off during loading and unloading. The density of the heat sink is consistent with the chip arrangement density.

Next, let's take a look at the situation of the front heat sink chip. A single heat sink covers 38 fully-customized 7nm chips developed by Bitmain, and the other half of the chips on the hash board are distributed in mirror images. The whole miner has three hash boards with a total of 228 chips.
Apply the Antminer thermosetting adhesive evenly between the chip and the heat sink, chips arrange that the density at the air inlet is high, and the heat sink is thin. The closer the air outlet, the smaller the chip density and the thicker the heat sink. This ensures that the entire miner dissipates evenly.
Now let's separate the power box, unscrew the connecting screws, unplug each component's power and data cables, and gently push it in the direction of the air outlet to remove it from the miner.
The power supply model of Antminer S19 95T is the newly designed APW12 PSU, which has a higher and stronger conversion rate than the S17 power supply APW9. Open the box cover to see 3 Nidec fans arranged side by side. Compared with the 40mm fan of the S17 series power supply, the S19 power supply fan has been upgraded to 60mm, the fan speed is reduced, the heat dissipation channel is enlarged, and the power failure rate will also decrease accordingly. In addition, insulation layers are placed on both sides of the power box to prevent dangers such as short circuit leakage.
The dismantled parts are first lined up for a group photo, then reset and restored, ready to be turned on and tested.
Antminer S19 95T commissioning
Antminers are not equipped with power cables from the factory, so you must prepare two quality power cords in advance. Among them, the power consumption of the S19 wall is 3250W±5%, and it is necessary to ensure that the socket for power supply to the miners is more significant than 10A.
Connect the power cable and network cable to power on, then pop up the miner's IP address through the IP report, enter the found IP address into the browser address, and you will be prompted to enter the user name and password. The miner's default user name and password are both "root," open the miner backstage, enter the miner configuration interface, fill in the mining pool's address and the name of the miner, and the fan speed defaults to 100. You can save it directly. The lesser the functions of restoring factory settings and restarting the miner are used in the lower right corner, the better, which will help prolong the miner's life.
The IP configuration interface can modify the hostname, which is convenient for miners to manage miners.
Password modification and firmware upgrade functions are located in the "System" module.
Focus on analyzing the user panel; not only can you intuitively see the real-time hash rate, network status, fan speed, and miner temperature of miners, but also accurately locate the operation of each hash board and each chip, and the status of the whole miner is clear at a glance, the interface is straightforward and user-friendly.
Antminer S19 95T running test
The tools required to run the test are shown in the figure below.
The measured ambient temperature is 26 degrees Celsius, and the actual operating power consumption is 3175.7W, which is in line with the floating range of 3250W±5% of the wall power consumption.
The noise decibel value is 83.7dB, the air inlet temperature is 32.5 degrees Celsius, and the air outlet temperature is 70.3 degrees Celsius.
Measured hash rate: The control panel shows that the 24-hour average hash rate is 95.8T, in line with the rated hash rate marked on the official website.
The 24-hour actual test data on the mining pool side is slightly different, but the value is also above the rated hash rate on the official website. The hash rate curve fluctuates stably between 92T and 100T.
Summarize
Evaluation parameters | Official data | Actual test data |
Average hash rate | 95T | 95.8T |
Power consumption | 3250 ± 5% | 3175.7W |
Energy efficiency ratio | 34.5 ± 5% | 33.1J/T |
Bare metal size | 400*195.5*290mm | 400*195.5*290mm |
Noise decibel | - | 83.7dB |
Air inlet temperature | - | 32.5°C |
Air outlet temperature | - | 70.3°C |
After 24 hours of actual measurement in an indoor environment of 26 degrees Celsius, the hash rate of Antminer S19 95T displayed on the local user panel and mining pool side slightly exceeded the officially announced hash rate index of 95T. The power consumption range was between 3175.7~3217W, lower than the official website wall power consumption of 3250W, the 24-hour average hash rate of the mining pool is 95.07T, and the measured energy efficiency ratio is 33.1J/T, which is lower than the 34.5±5%J/T power consumption ratio marked on the official website. On the whole, it is in line with and better than the official propaganda data. Therefore, it can be said that it is a conscientious product and a nugget weapon to deal with halving.
A new generation of custom chips with a perfect whole machine architecture and high conversion rate APW12 power supply pushes miners' energy efficiency ratio to the extreme. In addition, the newly upgraded miner operation interface is also more user-friendly. The real-time hash rate, average hash rate, and the operation of each chip are apparent at a glance. Furthermore, the operation process is simple and easy to use.
