In September 2020, Bitcoin miner Canaan released the latest Avalon series high hash rate Bitcoin miner Avalon A1246. The Avalon A1246 miner is the eleventh generation product of the Avalon series of miners based on Canaan's nearly ten years of experience in R&D and production of bitcoin miners.

1. Miner appearance

Avalon A1246 adopts an industrial packing box packed with a bubble film plastic pad inside the miner and wrapped with an EPE foam pad outside, with double-layer protection, which has an excellent shockproof effect.

The miner is rectangular, and the chassis is made of new alloy material, which is thick and sturdy and supports horizontal and vertical placement, which is convenient and flexible.

The upper part of the front of the miner from left to right is the system reset button (RESET), the network cable interface, the three-color status indicator (red, yellow, and green), the function button (FUNC), and the fan power interface.

On the lower part of the front of the miner, you can see the front dual cooling fans of the miner. The specifications are two four-pin socket diameter 12CM fans (12v4.5a), with a protective cover outside, and the air is fed from this side.

The top of the miner is the control board. The control board adopts the self-developed Kanzhi K210 dual-core 64-bit AI chip, widely used in intelligent electronic equipment. In addition, the main control chip has a built-in encryption algorithm to prevent viruses and theft.

2. Installation and debugging

Before installing and running, you need to do the following preparations.
1) Each miner should prepare a high-quality RJ45 interface network cable; too poor network cable transmission data is easily disturbed and affects the stability.
2) The operating power of the A1246 high hash rate miner is relatively high, reaching more than 3000w, and the miner is equipped with a 16A power cord. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a socket with a 16A socket. Since the miner is running for a long time and the power interface is heated for a long time, please choose a socket with reliable quality from a compliant manufacturer.
3) It is inevitable for miners to bump during transportation. Before installing the miners, pick up the miners and shake them a little to see any abnormal noise inside the miners. If there is any abnormal noise, the spare parts may fall off. Contact the manufacturer for after-sales service in time.

3. Debug

When the power is turned on, the miner will enter the working state immediately, and the status indicator will be solid green.

The second is to use the browser of the Internet access device (mobile phone, computer) in the local area network to enter the miner background to set.
After the miner is started by default, the IP address is automatically assigned. First, find the latest IP device connected to the LAN to be the miner. Then, open the browser and enter the IP address of the miner to enter the miner background.
First, come to the login page, you can see the Avalon logo and a password login box; the default factory user name and password are "root."

4. Run the test

The ambient temperature for this evaluation is nearly 30 degrees. A1246 does not need complicated settings such as frequency, voltage, fan speed, etc. The level of plug-in and ready-to-use has been achieved.
After the miners started, the hash rate quickly reached 90T in a short period, the fan speed was about 6800 rpm, and the average hash rate for a long time was 90.05T. The maximum hash rate is nearly 105T, the minimum hash rate is about 78T, and there is no significant fluctuation in long-term operation.

Under normal working conditions of miners, the hash rate is about 90T, and the measured power is about 3508w.

In terms of noise, when the miner is running stably, and the fan speed is about 6800 rpm, it is about 93.1dBa measured at a distance of 20CM from the miner.

In terms of temperature, when the backstage temperature shows that the inside of the miner is 31°C, it is 26.3°C at the air inlet.
